We love making sure back to school is smooth as possible. These are great tips for us all!
Top Ten Back-to-School ‘fit’ Tips
Beat the back-to-school stress by spending 10 minutes every morning moving more with your kids. It’s as simple as dancing, walking, biking, hiking, jumping or stretching.
Walk to school. If you live too far, park a few blocks away from school and then walk the remaining distance as a family.
Have the kids ride their bikes to school once a week and make sure they have helmets and bike locks readily available.
Empower kids to make healthy choices on their own and then praise them for doing so.
Put kids in charge of coming up with and preparing a family game night or dinner. Giving them responsibility makes them feel capable.
Read together. Start a daily habit of reading at least one book or chapter together.
Eat together as a family at a table, with no electronics.
Take time as a family to make a list of easy and healthy snacks, like carrots and low-fat ranch, which can be quickly put together into a lunch bag while heading out.
Want better school performance? Start your kids off with breakfast! Try a PB&B wrap: peanut butter and sliced banana wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla, and skim milk to drink.
Banana pops are an easy way to help your kids snack healthy after school: peel a banana and thread onto a straw or popsicle stick, roll banana in low-fat yogurt, then roll in crushed whole grain cereal, such as Cheerios, and freeze until ready to enjoy.
