Favorite Vacations: Caribbean cruise and Rocky Mountain skiing! Favorite Getaway: McCormick’s Creek State Park, Owen County, Indiana. Back home we call it "Sweet Owen!" Favorite Artists: John Mellencamp, Rich Mullins, James Taylor, Chris Tomlin, America, and Elton John. The Other Career I Would Have Chosen: College professor – business or broadcasting.
Most Influential Person In My Life: George Henry, football coach and YoungLife leader.
A Little History: I came to Kansas to attend Sterling College and never left! After starting a radio station on campus, I got my first “real” job at KSKU in Hutchinson (back when it was at 102.1), then moved to KHOK in Great Bend, and KFDI. Along the way I’ve also spent time in radio in Topeka and Kansas City, before returning to Wichita in 1984 for a 6 year stint at KKRD. In 1991 I helped launch Christian music station Light 99, then moved to Winfield in 1995 to purchase 3 radio stations with my brother-in-law Troy Wiechman. I’ve been with B98 and Clear Channel since 2000, and it’s been like “home sweet home!” My family and I still call Winfield “home”, and I’m actively involved there as a youth soccer coach and Pastor of Crossroads Community Church. B98 just “fits” me! I love the music, the family-friendly values, AND the privilege of working with some of the greatest people in the business. There’s no place like home…there’s no place like home…there’s no place like home!
