Art and Book Fair
Saturday, May 11, 10 am to 5 pm
and Sunday, May 12, 11 am to 5 pm
at Century II Exhibition Hall
Continuing the Mother's Day weekend tradition, each year the Fair focuses on the presentation of high-quality arts and fine crafts made by artisans around the country. This year, the Fair will also offer children's activities as well as several musicians who will be performing throughout the weekend.
Several special events will be presented in Kennedy Plaza. Wichita's specialty food trucks will offer their gourmet fare, and a chalk-art contest will feature local artists creating colorful works of art on the plaza. On Sunday, Kennedy Plaza will showcase cars from the British Car Club of Wichita.
The Book Fair will be held on the balcony of Century II's Exhibition Hall.
There will be "early bird" shopping hours on Saturday morning from 10 am to noon. A $5 admission fee allows committed shoppers to arrive early to scoop precious finds. Later Art and Book Fair visitors pay no admission cost.
Event overview:
The Inter-Faith Youth Challenge is a friendly competition among middle and high school youth that raises funds to help children in need. Participants can choose events like swimming, running, Mario Kart, Inter-Faith Jeopardy, and others. More importantly, they will have fun, meet others, and help provide food to hungry children.
Teens can participate as an individuals or they can form a team with their friends -minimum of three people for a team. Prizes are awarded to the individual and the team that raises the most money. The money raised will help children served by Inter-Faith Ministries. Teens who are unable to fundraise can still participate by including a $25 entry fee with their forms.
No child should be hungry. There are more than 30,000 children living in the Wichita area who experience hunger on a regular basis. The neighborhoods that surround Inter-Faith Ministries campus are home to nearly 900 children whose families live at or below the poverty level. When schools are open, these children receive a reduced cost or free lunch at school, which for some is their primary meal for the day. When school is out of session these children are hungry. Funds raised during the Inter-Faith Youth Challenge will provide lunches for these children during spring and summer breaks. For every $38 raised IFM will be able to provide 10 lunches to children in our area.
